I can’t remember how many times my dad has told me “okay, i’ll leave the light on”. When I’m going to a football game or I’m driving home from church, he always leaves the light on. I find peace in knowing that, if he goes to bed or isn’t home, that the light will still be on for me. I get to come home and know that someone is waiting on me, whatever time I decide to get there. He isn’t worrying about me being late or about what i’m doing. He just wants me safe and home.

While I was at home, God told me that He was leaving the light on for me. It left me kind of confused. He reminded me that when I feel distant from Him that He has a light on for me. He is patiently waiting for me to walk in the door. He doesn’t pressure me to be there at a certain time. He doesn’t get angry when I’m a couple minutes late. He loves me, so He waits, anticipating my arrival.

He wants you to know He’s leaving it on for you too. If you’re not ready to walk through the door, that’s okay. He’s not angry. He’s not disappointed. He isn’t going to turn the light off. He’ll wait. He loves you. He wants you. He is for you.

“come home, My child, come home.”

love you friends,

kaylin 😉

  1. And unlike I our earthly parents who can get tired of waiting up for our return, He never does!
