I heard these words whispered to me during a quiet time one morning. I was like, “Lord, do you mean D A N C E?”, knowing good and well I don’t have that gene. A few nights later my team was doing feedback and one of my teammates said that they did a listening prayer for me and God said “dance with Me”. At this point I was trying to push it away, so I hadn’t told anyone. I was like of course He did. The next morning I did listening prayer with a squad leader and a teammate and He whispered them again.

Friday, my squad did worship for an hour after ministry at the Hope project. During this time I heard the Lord ask me to get on my knees. I was like God this is uncomfortable, the floor is gross,  i’m in jeans, blah, blah, blah. He said “this is what it looks like to dance with me”

To dance with someone is to be vulnerable, to move in freedom, and (in my case) to follow someone’s lead. I don’t move unless it is guided, each step, each breath, each movement. God has been teaching me what it looks like to live in a constant state of worship and dance.

what’s stopping you from dancing with the Father?

  2. It occurred to me as I was reading, that to dance with someone will often require us to hold the hand of the person leading. So what’s stopping us, maybe it’s to trust the lead of the Father. I recently meditated on this scripture for a hip, but I can now see it also applies to dance when we let God take the lead, “make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed.”-Heb 12:13 ESV
