So, it’s month 3 of training camp for us 2020 racers and something I get asked often is about sleeping arrangements.
where do we sleep?
how long did we sleep in tents?
why did we sleep in tents?
why did we move inside?
what’s it like sleeping in a room with 38 other people?
let me tell you! most likely you’ve never experienced something like this. for us, the first 2 months we slept outside in tents. this is actually something i was super nervous about because i like sleeping in a bed, with the fan on, and all the nice things. the first month it was so hot that i woke up in a puddle of sweat almost every morning. surprisingly i was able to sleep well!! PRAISE GOD!! into october, we were at a campsite with the whole squad which was a blast to hear people sleep talking and snoring for their tent across the woods. we slept in tents to train for possibly having to sleep in them overseas. we slept inside a couple nights due to weather issues.
now, we are inside permanently due to it being so close outside. AIM converted their office space into what we call Squad Meeting Points (or our SMP)! it’s one big room where all 39 of us sleep on our sleeping pads. Sunday through Thursday we have lights out and quiet hours from 10:00pm-7:30am. Friday and Saturday lights out and quiet hours are at 11:00pm. I have always been someone who goes to bed early, so this has been interesting for me. I don’t typically sleep with the lights on or with 25 people talking and the others watching a movie on a speaker. this is something the Lord has given me a much bigger capacity for. PRAISE GOD AGAIN!!
while i didn’t think this would be something i enjoyed, i actually think it’s going to be weird sleeping without them haha! call me crazy, but i love my 38 roommates!
love you all tons!!
